OLPC XO Laptop

Last year, students in this course held a fundrasiers to but two XO laptops. these laptops have been designed for use of students in third world countries. they are given to students to take home where in some cases they might be the only source of light. The class kept one and the another was donated to the OLPC program.

The XO contains many innovative features such as daylight visiable screen, a flash drive, mesh networking and a large connection of pre-installed software.

The use of cell phones in class

Cell phones have been regarded as the most distracting tool in a classroom. Many schools including mine (Notre Dame) has banned cell phones from the classroom. Though the lastest ICT 12 class, we used our phones to engage into a poll thant involved text messages to register our vote on what we think about H1H1. I think we could use cell phones productively in a class room with the right amout of discipline.

Update

I used Wolfram Alpha to convert the number 2 into different languages in representing the number two. My binary position is 00111 in the classroom. I resently signed up on Google Analytics. I have continued to update my blog weekly.
